How do I setup assist?

  1. Download and install the latest version of Assist from www.lifestylemembers.com
  2. Uninstall and download and install the latest version of Lifestyle Professional from www.lifestylemembers.com
  3. Download and install the the latest version of the Trader Workstation platform from http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/software/installationInstructions.php?ib_entity=llc
  4. Download and install the IB API plugin from http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/p.php?f=programInterface
  5. Enter your simulated account number in the Assist field in your profile at www.lifestylemembers.com

What is the purpose of Assist?

Assist was created to help traders streamline the Lifestyle Trader approach to trading financial markets. After setting up the software, it will help detect signals based on your strategy and allow your to execute trades through the Assist interface into your TWS platform and trading account.

Does Assist work on a 64 bit computer?

Assist has been tested on various 64 bit computers both in-house and externally, and it has proven to work on these systems. We have had cases where the Software does not work on some 64 bit computers, but this is only minimal. Please contact Customer Service if your Assist software is not working on a 64 bit computer.

What Stop Loss values does assist use?

Assist will use the Stop values that are currently set in Lifestyle Professional. Check to make sure that they stop settings are what you want them to be in Lifestyle Professional, before using Assist on a Simulator or Live account.

What defines the Green Line signal in Assist?

A long Green line signal is when the Green line changes from a downward pointing direction to an upward pointing direction.
A short Green line signal is when the Green line changes from an upward pointing direction to a downward pointing direction.

How do I transmit orders automatically to my TWS software?

You must enable the settings inside Assist for this to happen.

How come Assist is picking up random trade entries or is not picking trades according to my rules?

In almost all cases, this is dependant on how your entry, exit and risk rules are setup. If your maximum risk, margin or open units is exceeded, there will be no new trade entries. If you have enabled multiple strategies, then entries and exits will show up for each of these.

What does the hourglass button do in Assist?

When this button is pressed it will refresh the connection between Assist and the TWS program. It is important to press this button after each session of trading so you can visually see if Assist has placed all trades correctly on the TWS platform. If they are not correct, Assist will detect this and will show on screen.

How do I connect my simulated account to Assist?

To connect your simulator please enter the simulated account number in your profile through the members section at www.lifestylemembers.com

How do I connect my live account to Assist?

To connect your live account with Assist, please visit your profile in www.lifestylemembers.com and enter your details to request a phone call to setup your live account.

What happens if I trade Options or other strategies in the same trading account used with Assist?

It is important to understand that Assist will calculate risk and values on the total account as it was designed to be used solely with a trading account. It will also look at the available funds in the trading account to use. This means, if you have open positions through other strategies, this will affect the trading strategy with Assist. If you are trading more than one strategy and want to use Assist, it is suggested to open another trading account, which is free to do. Visit www.lifestyleinvestorservices.com to do this.

Does Assist automatically balance Forex currencies?

No. If you are a Forex trader using Assist, you will have to balance your currencies manually through your TWS platform.

Does assist reflect any commissions or expenses outside of the trade itself?

No. Assist does not produce record keeping of any fees or commission that could incur with your trading.

Does Assist transfer settings from Paper, Simulator and Live mode?

No. Each mode needs to be set up by the user, this is due to the variety of choices that can be customised when using the software.

What Trading Support is provided with Assist?

Assist is primarily supported through the training videos and Trading Pits service. Should you need specific assist with installation or programming concerns please contact our customer service team to organise a technical support phone call.
